Number Plate Letter Q
Only used on Q-registered vehicles — ordered to request.
Q is not issued in standard registration marks. It appears on Q-plates, given to vehicles whose age or identity cannot be established — kit cars, rebuilt vehicles and some imports. Because demand is occasional rather than routine, we do not hold Q in the same depth as the rest of the alphabet and it is normally supplied to request.

Where the Q appears on UK plates
- Q is not used in the memory tag or the random three letters of the current format.
- It identifies Q-registered vehicles, where the age or identity is not established.
Ordering and fitting the Q
- Q sits outside our normal stock run — ask us before promising a date to a customer.
- A Q-plate registration is not simply an O with a tail; order the Q item itself.

- Why is Q showing as unavailable?
- It is not part of our routine stock run because standard registrations never contain it. Contact us with the quantity you need.
- Can I use an O and add a tail?
- No. Order the correct character — an altered character is not an acceptable plate component.
